Among
the many new features, below is a sample of what will
be available in the new Microsoft Dynamics
CRM version 4.0
Device
licensing now available. One device, such
as a shared computer, can be licensed so
that many non-concurrent users, such as
shift workers, can access one machine with
one license.
A
new Workgroup edition will be available,
bundling 5 user licenses and one server
license.
Workflow
is now managed by Windows Workflow Foundation
and accessible directly through Microsoft
Dynamics CRM version 4.0. Users can create
their own Workflow, and those with appropriate
security roles, can publish rules to the
community or to specific individuals or
teams.
Workflow
Progress can be tracked from within an entity,
and stages for Accounts and Contacts can
now be defined.
Users
can now create reports using the new Report
Wizard with access controlled via security
roles. A developer is no longer required
for all custom reports.
Exported
data from reports can now be selected for
re-import.
Improved
mail merge integration.
Many
relationships are now supported.
Asynchronous
plug-ins available.
All
activities can now be synchronized with
Outlook.
Schedulable duplicate detection feature
and rules for how to handle duplicates.
Pre-configured
data import tools for Act! field mappings.
Improved
data migration wizard and monitoring.
Improved
data import tool that allows field mappings
to be saved.
Users
and user roles can now be exported and imported.
Improved performance and scalability include
SQL Mirroring, improved clustering support,
and WAN performance improvements.
Multi-National
language packs are now available, as well
as currency exchange rate definitions.
